HKABA Attends ABAI's 8th International Conference in Kyoto, Japan

Last month, some of our HKABA members were fortunate enough to attend The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Eighth International Conference in Kyoto, Japan. The three days were jam-packed with symposiums, panel discussions and tutorials all dedicated to topics revolving around behaviour analysis. There was not nearly enough time to absorb all the information and knowledge being shared amongst various professionals around the world (including presentations from HKABA’s very own Rebecca Dogan, Jeremy Greenberg and Dianna Yip!). Compelled to streamline, I chose topics related to autism and education such as “ Examining the Effects of Video Modeling and Prompts to Teach Activity Daily Living Skills to Young Adults” and “ Improving Education in Every Classroom: Right Here, Right Now”. I learnt about the latest educational apps for the classroom and heard about how best to teach children with autism to understand emotions and perspective taking. It was both insightful and humbling to hear about the trials and tribulations of behaviour analysts in other parts of the world and realize that so many others are overcoming the same obstacles that we face on a daily basis.
